Odin – Bourdieu – Damasio Thread
What we are talking about here is really the pivotal point of our evolutionary entanglement – leading to a deeper and more precise view of the Homo Ludens pattern.
What’s written on the poster
Odin the Horse
The Odin the Horse vignette will provide us a suitable entry into Bourdieu's “theory of practice” – by showing why our “symbolic power” struggles may be purely symbolic indeed!
Pierre Bourdieu
The Bourdieu vignette will help us understand what exactly Bourdieu saw, that made him become a sociologist and develop his theory. How can symbolic power remain invisible to both those who exercise it, and those who are affected by it?
Antonio Damasio
A commented excerpt from Antonio Damasio's “Descartes’ Error” will help us see why ‘socialization’ – understood as ‘programming’ our behavior, worldviews and values through ‘symbolic power’, can have a deciding influence on our (seemingly) rational decision making.
Conclusions
The Homo Ludens pattern follows.
What additional information we may provide
Putting the vignettes into separate files.
